Accessible information overview
The Accessible Information Standard is mandatory for all organisations that provide NHS or adult social care, including NHS trusts and GP practices.
It ensures people with a disability or sensory loss can access and understand information – eg in large print or braille, or from a sign language interpreter.
Learn more about this on the Gov UK website
What we do
- Ask people if they have any information or communication needs, and find out how to meet their needs.
- Record those needs clearly and in a set way.
- Highlight or flag the person’s file or notes so it is clear that they have information or communication needs.
- Share people’s information and communication needs with other providers of NHS and adult social care, when they have consent to do so.
- Ensure people receive information that they can access and understand, and receive communication support if they need it.
Patients to whom the standard could apply:
- patients who have information or communication needs relating to a disability, impairment or sensory loss
- parents and carers of those patients, where appropriate
- people with visual impairments, who have some hearing or visual loss
- people who are deaf or blind
- people with a learning disability.
If you have any additional needs please let our staff know so that we can help you, and also ensure you get the same support in the future.
Interpretation at appointments
If you need the support of an interpreter to support you during your appointment, please let us know when you book the appointment.
We currently use the services of DA Languages for remote translation and interpretation.
Wheelchair access
The Practice has been specially designed to make it easier for disabled patients to visit; patients also have access to a disabled toilet.
Disabled parking - Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge Scheme is for people with severe mobility problems. It allows Blue Badge holders to park close to where they need to go.
For more information and an Application Form visit your local council office.
Loop system
We have a loop induction system at Reception to assist the hearing impaired. For more information on the loop hearing system visit the Hearing Link website.
